"And the mountains in reply echoing their joyous strains."

Sidebar Fun Facts

Merry Christmas!

We are spending Christmas in Colorado this year.

Britta has close friends

who have never known

her with short hair.

Britta bought and started

wearing makeup this year.

We had a good year in our careers. Ryan was promoted to Software Engineer III

at Comprehensive Software Systems. He is also Lead Developer on a

important project at the company. Britta was promoted to Executive

Director at Wheat Ridge 2020. She was very pleased that two local issues

that Wheat Ridge 2020 worked on passed in the November election.

Camping at Lost Lake

Mt Sherman

This spring we took a trip for a week through 6 states and visited 5

National Parks and several National Monuments. We saw the Monument Valley

Navajo Tribal Park after a few inches of snow had fallen and it was beautiful. We

hiked on the South Kaibab Trail in the Grand Canyon. It's hard to describe

the scale; it is breathtaking. It is worth a visit and a hike below the

rim. We also stopped by to see Aunt Joanne and Uncle Wally in Lake Havasu,

AZ, and went with them to Joshua Tree National Park in California. We got

to drive across the Hoover Dam before they disallow it and the new bridge

nearby is completed to handle traffic. We were not overly impressed by Las

Vegas, but did stop in for a buffet lunch. In Utah we enjoyed three more

National Parks - Zion, Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef. We hope to get back to Zion in a

little warmer weather to explore some slot canyons. Bryce Canyon is

easier to get your arms around than the the Grand Canyon and the

topography feels like it is from another world. The hoodoos, or columns,

capture light in a spectacular way. And we got to see Chimney Rock at

Capitol Reef along with some cool cliff drawings.

Over the 4th of July we went to Minnesota to celebrate Grandpa Bill's 80th

birthday. It was great to have time with the family and celebrate. We were

also able to get back to Minnesota for Thanksgiving.

This summer we took a vacation with Briana and Josh (Britta's sister and

brother-in-law) and stayed at Lost Lake Campground off of Kebler Pass. We

fished, hiked, and went white water rafting while soaking in some serious

Rocky Mountain beauty.

This fall we met Ryan's parents and Erhard grandparents at a condo on

Myrtle Beach, SC. We also took a drive to Battleship, NC, saw Britta's

former housemate Karen Sterner and went sea kayaking outside Charleston.

And we continue to feel very blessed to live in and explore the beauty of

Colorado as frequently as we can. Over Labor Day weekend we hiked a 14er

(14,000+ ft mountain), Mount Sherman, with our friend Bobbie Jo.

Life in Colorado

Our church search has led us to Ecclesia Denver. Ryan continues as a

regular blood donor and Britta continues to support the work of The White

House Project, which encourages women to vote, run and lead. This year

Britta was accepted into Leadership Jefferson County and will graduate

with a class of 29 others in June 2010.

For fun we continue to hike and Jeep to beautiful places we can photograph

and enjoy. We enjoy cooking and playing games. We play kickball, golf, and Britta is still in the Drinking

Club with a Book Problem. Ryan took a long bike ride over most of the

route for the Copper Triangle this summer, over Tennessee and Fremont

Passes.

If you are planning a trip to Colorado, we are happy to tell you more

about some of our favorite places. We live near both I-70 and I-25,

and would love to see you on your way through the Denver area.

We hope that with the ups and downs of life you find yourself counting

blessings this holiday season.

Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!
