The Big Snow

March 2003

Britta standing by her car outside of our place. Note, she is not standing on the ground. Her knee is about at the same level as the side mirror.
Believe it or not Britta's hand is on the roof of the car there. We measured 31 inches outside our house.
It took a while to find my car and even longer to unbury it.
It took a couple days to shovel out Britta's car, but we finally got it. The bad thing about the storm was that there was so much snow that it took almost a week before you could park anywhere. The only space open was where people had shoveled out there cars. And those spots were a lot easier to get out than in.
We got 30+ inches in Denver, but up in the mountains where I work it was more like 4+ feet of snow. This is the building where I work.
The snow started falling on Monday, that night they closed the interstates and they remained closed for days. I made it out to Genesee on Friday, but had to go home an hour later.
I parked 1/3 mile away and walked to work. The roads around the area were down to a single lane with traffic having to take turns to get by each other.
Understandably, they had only gotten one of the entrances to the building open. I only stayed for a little bit because the fire marshal was complaining about the cars and not being able to get anywhere.
